Persatuan Kanak Kanak Cerebral Palsy (Spastik), Pulau Pinang, a training centre for children suffering for cerebral palsy got a new 15 seater Nissan URVAN to provide transport to its trainees to and from the centre. Sponsored by Hong Leong Foundation at the cost of RM91,913.61, the van ease the transportation problem faced by the centre. The van was delivered to the centre’s doorstep on 29 October 2010, much to the excitement of the trainees.
The Foundation had a little get together to celebrate the birthday of the youngest member of Agape Home together with all those born between October and December.. Hong Leong Foundation recently donated RM493,833 to Montfort Boys Town (MBT) for the construction of a new dormitory which will allow MBT to accommodate 120 new intakes a year. According to MBT, qualified applicants have been increasing year-on-year but they have had to turn many away because of lack of space. A total of 60 students from 3 primary schools around the Taiping area were selected for Hong Leong Foundation’s Student Assistance Programme (SAP) recently. SEMOA in Tras, Raub runs a boarding home for 30 Orang Asli children aged between 5-14 whose families are so deep in the interiors its impossible to make the daily run to school. The 14-seater, fully air conditioned van, presented in April 2010 and costing RM91,000 enables the children to make the 12 km walk to and fro school in safety.
